It produces in office ceramic dental restorations using a computer assisted technology that includes 3d pictures and Cad/Cam. This data on this restoration is sent as a file to a milling machine. Procedure for an Inlay / Onlay Here at Ocean dental Cancun we count with the Cerec Cad/Cam dental machine. A restoration can be designed to restore the tooth to its appropriate form and function. CEREC is a sophisticated CAD/CAM system for the production of all-ceramic ways of repairing teeth such as inlays, onlays, partial crowns, veneers and crowns. The tooth is then powder sprayed with a thin layer of blue anti-reflective contrast medium, imaged by a 3D imaging camera and uploaded to the CEREC computer. Our dentist prepares the tooth being restored either as a crown, inlay, onlay or veneer. The restoration is bonded to the tooth using a resin cement which bonds to both the restoration as well as the tooth itself. Greater preservation of the natural tooth.
With proper care and maintenance, these restorations can last for 15 years or longer, even after continual chewing and use. The ceramic material is strong, allowing the patient to bite into most things without worrying about breakage. When the design phase is complete, the information is sent to the milling unit which mills the actual restoration from a solid block of material using diamond burs. CEREC crowns and inlays are not meant to be a short-term solution. Our dentist then refines that model using 3D software.

The software is then used to approximate the restoration shape using comparisons to surrounding teeth. Inlays and onlays can also be made from gold or resin materials which each have their own advantages. The cavity preparation is first photographed and stored as a three dimensional digital model. The single visit restorations are typically made by a machine such as the CEREC that enables the dentist to make porcelain crowns and inlays/onlays quickly and bond them in a single appointment. Its an advance that improves productivity and creates a better restorative experience for patients. Lava Ultimate Restorative gives chairside CAD/CAM dentists better edge quality and smooth margins for a brilliant restoration. With CEREC, teeth can be restored in a single sitting with the patient, rather than the multiple sittings required with earlier techniques.
